Flammable Liquids Conversion Table (NFPA class vs. OSHA GHS Category)
A client has allowed me to share work I did several years ago when OSHA's GHS threw a wrench into the flammable liquids world! There was so much confusion between Class and Category of flammable liquids, and during an engineering review, it was discovered that the engineering group had made a conversion error when going from OSHA's Categories back to Classes in order to meet local fire codes, which still use the "Classification" and not the newer OSHA "Categorization". So, in our discussion, I went to the whiteboard and mapped out how flammable liquids look today and how the classes and categories look side by side. Here is the table I created for them: NOTE: Members get a clean full-size image and WORD version for their use. |
