My name, Nicolau Bello - Sorocaba/SP/ Brazil On 06 June, to 8.30 h, it happened a fatal accident in the Plant of NONONO, in Brazil. The victim, a worker of NONONO (ABB), it was cleaning the contacts of a key seccionadora, of a substation of 69KV (energized), which is located out of the plant - 2 kilometers of the industrial area. In the moment of the work, the worker didn't obey safety's of 95 cm minimum limit to hold the stick, holding him/it to 54 cm, consequently he was reached by an electric discharge (approximately 39KV), coming to die soon after. He had second burns and third degree. ABB is a specialized company in this activity where was a skilled performer and the employee, that he/she was 33 years old, worked for ABB 12 years ago. Many thanks for sharing Nicolau!!!
Dear Sirs I'm a Brazilian safety technician and would like to say that my safety training quality has been very much improved with the assistance of your great site! I want to participate by sending you photos of a fatal accident (electrocution) that took place in a high voltage substation in the city of SAO PAULO, BRAZIL, on a large State Energy Supplier. This Energy Supplier State Enterprise is known in Brazil on its very good safety practices, but the dead man was a thief and tried to steal electrical components of the substation, jumping the safety fences (unfortunately he was not an electrician, otherwise he never would try make something like that). By the way, if you could indicate a US site about Aeronautical Plants Safety Practices I would be very pleased! How could I write to some North American or Canadian Safety technicians? Best regards from Brazil! Maynard A. Conde |
