Automated External Defibrillator (AED) inspection and maintenance

AED expiresAED’s have become extremely popular in the past decade; they are in just about all public places like airports, government buildings, and many private businesses.  These devices require little to no official training, as the device’s computer walks the user through the entire process of saving a life.  But these devices do NOT last forever!  Today, the plant I am at this week was going through their AHJ annual fire inspection and the inspector pulled out each AED and took note of the “pads” expiration date(s) and battery expiration date(s).  This facility is using a Phillips brand AED and this brand has a 2-year expiration on the pads and a 4-5 on the battery pack.  Here are the details:
