Pulling back the curtain on WHY workers fail to comply with “Cardinal Rules”

Always Safe

Always SafeI want to thank for sharing this report with his LinkedIn connections.  The document below is a MUST READ and DIGEST for all safety professionals, but certainly for those who manage high-risk workplaces.

Equinor – the Norwegian Oil and Gas Company, with associated companies such as ConocoPhillips, Vår, or Aker BP, as part of their “Always Safe” initiative, asked over 5,000 team members to select two life-saving rules and describe what makes compliance difficult.

They found that the context of work made compliance difficult: for example, for working at height, it was things such as a lack of attachment points or difficulty estimating the strength of the attachment points.

The comments written by the workers clearly show they were aware and thoughtful of the dangers associated with the work.
