St. Patty’s Day Safety

“Think Safety First” Safety

Tool Box Meeting
Topic: Safety – It’s in the GREEN !

TO SUPERVISORY PERSONNEL AND EMPLOYEES:

“Top O’ the mornin’ to ya, Lads and Lassies! Happy St. Patrick’s Day to ya’ one and all…”. Welcome to the safety meeting.

Last Reminder for March – Please check FIRE EXTINGUISHERS / FIRST AID!

I thought we’d do something just a wee bit different in honor of that ol’ Patron Saint Patty. How about thinking of “Safety – It’s in the GREEN!” GREEN is the internationally recognized color associated with SAFETY. GREEN CROSS symbols are recognized for Safety, and for the two most recognized associations in safety; the National Safety Council (NSC) and the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) both use a green cross.

  • GREEN on your fire extinguisher gauge is SAFELY CHARGED; RED is DANGER or DISCHARGED!!

  • GREEN or GREEN CROSSES are used for FIRST AID KIT SIGNS AND IDENTIFICATION MARKINGS.

  • GREEN is the money you get to make when you work safely and therefore get to keep working!

  • GREEN is the profits your company gets to make when all of its employees work safely and enable the company to focus on winning jobs and building things rather than going in the red paying workers claims.

  • GREEN is a green light, meaning, “go ahead, it’s safe to go.” Red light means “STOP, it’s not safe!”

  • GREEN is a green tag, meaning, ” proceed you’ve got it right!” Red tag means “STOP, we have a problem!”

  • GREEN is the ball field you get to watch your child play on because you wore your safety glasses.

  • GREEN is the inexperienced new employee that needs your experienced guidance and mentoring.

  • GREEN is the forest saved by all of the paper you didn’t need for the accident reports you didn’t have to write.

  • “GREEN EGGS AND HAM” is the book you get to read to your dearest little leprechaun tonight before bed because YOU WORKED SAFE and went home instead of to the emergency room under the red sign.

Therefore, the topic for all tool box safety meetings for the week of 17MAR2003 will be: SAFETY, It’s In the GREEN! Thanks for your time and attention. Have a safe week and – Think Safety First!
Sincerely,

Bruce Lamach, Safety Director
