These last few years have been tough on a lot of families, especially around the holidays. Traditons have had to be broken to make ends meet, families can not afford to travel to spend time with each other, etc. But there are some families that are enduring MUCH MORE than financial losses. Some families are livng with tramatic injuries and serious illnesses of their loved ones, on top of financial hardships. If we have a job and good health, we need to take a momement and give thanks to those who have allowed us these life luxuries. After all, the vast majority of those who have lost a job in the last three years were a victim of a failing economy and those with life altering injuries/illnesses did not ask for them!!
Each year around this time one of my favorites songs begins to play on the radio and CMT… “The Christmas Shoes”. To me the song paints a vivid image of what we should all be doing during the holiday season… doing our part to make the lives of those less fortunate better!!! Adopt a family and something as simple as making sure the kids have gifts to unwrap on Christmas morning or allow a family to have a feast for a king on Christmas day. Just simple items like these will take their minds off their troubles and bring a smile to their face, even if just for a momement. Trust me, it will be the BEST GIFT you ever give!
