With Ohio being a state that allows recreational marijuana use, the construction of marijuana facilities has begun. The Fire Marshal in the state of Colorado created a task force to deal with the hazards of these facilities in CO. Using the International Fire, Building, and Mechanical Codes, they wrote an excellent document called Marijuana Facility Guidance. The document was based on the 2015 IFC, so it is a bit dated, but SAFTENG members can find all the updates/changes that have occurred since 2015. This document is a darn good start for OH AHJs, Contractors, Architects, and Safety Professionals who design, construct, and operate cultivation and extraction processes and businesses related to medical and recreational marijuana.
