If the underground piping is protected by a cathodic protection system, does this system need to be turned OFF and Locked Out before workers begin working on the pipe?
Though the voltage is usually low, if a cathodic protection system in a wet environment is improperly installed or malfunctioning, it can create an electrical hazard. Therefore, the system MUST be turned off and Locked Out before workers interact with the piping.
