We have another tragic example of how dangerous hot work is on used (even new) containers when proper precautions are not taken. This event seriously injured the three (3) workers in Ankara, Turkey, in February 2024.

The Cause: Workers were using a grinding tool or welding torch on the exterior of a large used storage tank. The tank had not been properly purged of residual flammable vapors.
The Outcome: The ignition of the internal atmosphere caused a catastrophic overpressure event. Reports from the time indicate that while the explosion was massive, the workers in the immediate vicinity miraculously survived, though they sustained various degrees of injury.
