I have an ongoing project with an entity that takes me on a trip through hundreds of Risk Management Plans that have been submitted to the EPA. Now most EHS professionals know that the majority of the data and text submitted in these plans is available on the world-wide web for anyone and everyone to see. The only thing that is not supposed to be published is the results of the Off-Site Consequence Analyzes and even that data is found in about 10% of the plans I review. But senior managers are often shocked at what is “published” about their facility when they are made aware of what I find and in many cases, the information is woefully inaccurate and sometimes just flat out wrong.
