The last article for my ESRWPs series. As I have been focused on volt meters and their proper use, this last article will discuss the necessary maintenance on these meters. Another reason why the meters need to be provided AND maintained by the employer. Are the meters at your facility in preventive maintenance (PM) program?
Using my favorite meter brand, I will share the maintenance needs to ensure this safety-critical device functions as needed.
Now one could argue that this ANNUAL CALIBRATION is required; some may argue that OSHA does not specifically require it. But OSHA compliance aside, these meters are safety-critical tools. I think we would want to follow the manufacturer’s calibration frequency since they are being used to verify a Zero Energy State.
