Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Delivery FATALITY (Drive-Off)

Bulk CO2 systems are becoming more and more commonplace.  Rather than having the smaller compressed gas cylinders from years back, restaurants are now running their soft drink dispensers off of liquid dewars which is a LOT of CO2.  Add to the mix that restaurants are notorious for having poor hazardous communications programs and YOUNGER workers – this move to increased inventory of a hazardous material gas is increasing risks for workers and customers.  I have shared several incidents at restaurants to a playhouse where CO2 was being used as a stage effect.  I shared this incident as well and here is the video and OSHA case file:

NOTE: This incident was in MN which is a state OSHA plan so we see both MN State Code cited as well as 29 CFR 1910.120 standard cited for a $30K fine.
