Ohio upgrades Hot Work requirements when performing Hot work on flammable and combustible liquid storage tanks

The state of OH is in the process of updating it’s fire code to the 2015 International Fire Code (IFC).  In doing so, the state is upgrading its Hot Work requirements when performing hot work on flammable and combustible liquid storage tanks.  The proposed code will include a new section, Section 3510 Hot work on flammable and combustible liquid storage tanks that will require hot work performed on the interior AND/OR exterior of tanks that hold or have held flammable or combustible liquids be in accordance with paragraph 3510.2 of this rule and NFPA 326 Standard for the Safeguarding of Tanks and Containers for Entry, Cleaning, or Repair chapters:

  • Chapter 4 Basic Precautions
  • Chapter 5 Preparation for Safeguarding
  • Chapter 6 Testing Procedures
  • Chapter 7 Control or Removal of Vapors
  • Chapter 10 Cleaning Tanks and Containers
