Attached is a Quality and Safety Alert for ALL DeWalt Large Grinders that have been manufactured prior to week 32, of this year. These grinders have been manufactured since sometime earlier than 1995. This is a real one and a good catch as this does NOT appear on the DeWalt website under their recalls section. One of their product subject matter experts is slated to contact us to discuss more of the line of questions we like to have to communicate the potential risk; however, at this point, ALL DeWalt large grinders which have been manufactured from as early as 1995 until week 32 (week of August 8, 2011) of this year, are suspect and subject to this alert.
As you can imagine, we won’t have a good count and DeWalt would be hard-pressed to provide any kind of reasonable count as to how many of this item sold to ConocoPhillips. Additionally, we’ll want to be sure all get this alert as it most likely will impact our contractor community also. We have chosen to issue this initially to the Supplier Quality Alert (SQA) distribution as it has been validated and has potential impact to all ConocoPhillips locations and our contract community.
