The Chlorine Institute has revised its piping RAGAGEP and it is FREE for anyone who wants it. Pamphlet 6 – Piping Systems for Dry Chlorine, Edition 17 contains major revisions to the following sections, in addition to minor clarifying changes throughout the pamphlet:
- Tool-free unions were added to Table 3.1, “Threaded Construction”
- Additional guidance on rupture discs was added in section 5.1, Rupture Discs.
- Clarification on the types of transportation valves and angle valves recommended for use on stationary equipment was added in section 5.4, Chlorine Railcar and Cargo Tank Valves on Stationary Equipment.
- Liquid expansion chamber guidance is now introduced in section 5.5 and more detail is found in section 10.5, Hydraulic Thermal Expansion Design Considerations.
- Many of the drawings! referenced in section 8, Transportation Container Connections , were removed from the appendix of this pamphlet and instead their location in other Cl pamphlets was referenced.
- Guidance on structural composites was added to section 9, Plastic Materials of Construction.
- Extensive guidance on painting recommendations was added to section 10, Piping Layout Design Considerations. This guidance was derived from the Cl White Paper, Corrosion and Chlorine Service White Paper.
- Guidance on steam cleaning was added to section 11, Preparation for Use.
- Additional guidance was added to section 11.4, Testing for Leaks.
- Examples of non-destructive examination methods were added to section 12.2.3, Non-Destructive Testing.
