We should be doing MONTHLY inspections on our LEVEL A suits (regardless of manufacturer) and this month, those of us who use DuPont Tychem® Level A suits will need to take some special actions due to a change that DuPont implemented several years ago. Effective September 1, 2013, DuPont transitioned to Pirelli valves for all Tychem® Level A suits. Products impacted by the valve change Prior to September 1, 2013, the following suits were made with Auer valves. For customer convenience, DuPont will maintain replacement Auer valves until September 2019.

Diaphragm Exhaust Valve Replacement
Suits manufactured with Pirelli valves AFTER July 2007 do NOT need the diaphragm replaced if after routine inspection the diaphragm shows NO EVIDENCE of deterioration or cracks.
DuPont recommends routine inspection of the diaphragm in the exhaust valves with a magnifying glass during each annual garment inspection.
