This is UNREAL! The lengths the human race will go to save $ over their own personal safety. This is NOT a joke and was posted to an autobody shop forum as a way to help other painters using Isocyanates protect themselves! You just can’t make this stuff up! Many thanks to Gary from down under for sharing with us.
First…Look through the stuff you have behind the shed (that hasn’t yet found it’s way to the local rubbish dump yet )

Grab yourself some scrap, and a parts car radiator fan ….

A bit of plastic hose from the local hardware store …..

Need a power source for the fan… an old car battery will do!
Hmmm, mask ….. This mask can’t be used for ISO paints …. You need a fresh air supply.

All Done… a Supplied Air Respirator! And you can NOT make this stuff up!!!!!!!!!
A testimonial from the creator and user…
The cooling fan howling away creates a gentle breeze in the mask that doesn’t open the exhaust ports. As a test I held the mask over some of the most rancid stinking smelly sh!t I could find. Couldn’t smell a bloody thing (other than the plastic smell of the new plastic hose. I think I’ll wash it in some soapy water and let dry. I’m absolutely stunned that this actually works. If there’s anyone else out there like me that doesn’t have hundreds of $$$ to spend on air fed mask systems (or in my case, thousands here in Australia). This really does work. I’ll need to stretch some material/filter over the back of the fan box (unless munching on bugs & dust is something that’s enjoyed). Just chuck it outside the spray area so you get fresh air. Total cost ?? $16 for a bit of plastic hose.
