CONFINED SPACE & ELECTRICAL Worker burned after jackhammering into electricity line in North Hobart street, police say (worker, 32, is in the Hospital with burns to his hands and face after an “explosion” – injured worker was on fire when he got himself out of the hole – he was in a serious condition, after probably hitting electricity cables – worker had managed to get himself up out of the hole but was on fire – he was down a hole and jack hammering underground when it appears he struck a high voltage line about 10:00am.)

CARWASH Car wash worker dragged 40 feet, pinned under minivan in Wareham (fire crews were forced to use The Jaws of Life after a car wash worker, 69, was dragged and left pinned under a vehicle around 1:15 p.m. – employee was dragged about 40 feet by the van and left trapped as it left the car wash bay – Minivan driver told investigators that he thought he went over a speed bump. A passing police officer pulled into the lot and realized someone was stuck under the vehicle)

CO2 PIPE RUPTURED CO2 pipe ruptures at produce facility in Santa Maria (a CO2 pipe buried in the ground ruptured – the leak was near a greenhouse and away from any storage tanks – worker at the facility was able to turn the valves off to stop the flowing gas – vapor from the rupture gas line dissipated in a few minutes – the only damage at the plant was from the ruptured pipe – unclear what caused the pipe to rupture)
