Does your organization recognize the difference between a Safety Policy, a Safety Program, and a Safe Work Practice?

In this discussion, think about your Respiratory Protection efforts. Does the organization have a Policy on the use of RP? Does the policy statement recognize that RP is the lowest form of protection (e.g., Hierarchy of Controls) and mention that Engineering and Administrative controls will be considered BEFORE the use of RP? We then move to the written program that outlines all the management functions for a well-established RP program (i.e., the Who, What, When, Where). Then comes the Safe Work Practice. This document details HOW all the activities in the RP program will be carried out. Things like Donning/Doffing face pieces, performing field fit checks, and how to perform the fit testing the program requires, etc.
