On October 9, 2023, at about 11:30 a.m., three (3) technicians tasked with performing maintenance work in an underground fuel reservoir died after they entered the underground tank. All three died from suffocation.
This tragic incident is like the many before! A single entrant entered the space and became incapacitated, leading his/her co-workers to go in to help them, only to succumb to the same hazardous atmosphere.
The first worker went in and did not return; another worker went to check on his colleague, and he did not return. So the third man went in after them both. All three (3) died inside the tank.
Two masons on the scene, who were working with the victims, apparently raised the alarm about the unfortunate incident.
A response team recovered the bodies from the underground tank.
